One great way of making one's workers more relaxed is to come up with a corporate weekend retreat. A lot of resort areas offer services for this very end. A corporate weekend retreat is not exactly a new concept, but it is a new start to have everybody together and to seek inputs from the workers themselves on what would motivate them further to stay on in the job.
Advantages of joining and hosting a corporate weekend retreat
The distance that is so pronounced between the lower-level employees and management could at least be temporarily shelved during this weekend retreat. It is the best atmosphere for a worker to say some things that he or she could not reveal in the confines of the office. For instance, an employee could freely say how he or she feels about changes in office polices, while management would listen with an open mind and heart. During the coporate weekend retreat, management should realize that inputs from the subordinates are valuable. After all, the best managers are not all-knowing, and they might learn something from their employees' inputs.
On a deeper level, the retreat is set up to get to the roots of the problems, plus allowing workers the chance to hear from their managers about what is expected of them. The workers, on the other hand, could "suggest" to their managers novel ways to increase productivity or boost worker morale.
Unlike a spritual weekend retreat where total solitude would be required for the greater part of the duration, a corporate kind must have a lot of interaction. Brainstorming, group discussion, and other group activities allow the participants to get to know one another better so that they work more harmoniously when they get to the real world.
